It may be mentioned that she is the first lady who apologizes for her boldness in venturing to treat certain maladies which a lady would hardly be expected ti include. The cookery part is well arranged, the medical part is full of horrors. It appears that this rare little book was first published in Leeds in 1826. Copac locates a 1831 Bungay printed 10th edition and OCLC adds the Leeds 1826 edition as well as a 1828 London edition printed by E. Bryant. Our edition seems to be unrecorded, Todd’s Dictionary of London Printers gives a date of 1829-45 for a J. Smith working from 193 High Holborn. Oxford, p.159 (1826 Leeds edition).
