London:: Boosey & Co,, 1896. First thus edition. Hardcover. Manx songs (in English) with music. Preface includes a paper read by W. H. Gill to the Musical Assoc. entitled "Manx Music" which includes information on the Isle of Man, its language and its music. "The following Songs are the first practical outcome of a project formed many years ago . to collect and preserve from oblivion . all that remained of the National Music of .Man. Apparently, apart from a few songs noted down in 1820, Manx music was almost exclusively vernacular and oral until Gill's project was undertaken. Original red cloth decorated in gilt and black, tall 8vo, a.e.g, xiv+145pp. Spine ends bruised, internally light signs of use with a few pencil marks to contents page but a good, tight copy nevertheless.. Very Good .
