Known as the "Swedish Nightingale" appeared first in 1840 on stage, toured France, Germany and England as an operatic singer till retiring in 1849 to devote herself to concert singing. Toured the continent and spent her last years in England. Toured in the United States for P.T. Barnum 1850-52. Was married to Otto Goldschmidt (1852). Very Good. Joined the Franciscan order in Rome in 1861and became 'Abbe Liszt' while teaching the rest of his life. Known for his symponies, symphonic poems, oratorios, piano pieces, and Hungarian rhapsodies. Woody Herman (1913-1987) was a band leader from the late 1930s and 1940s thru the 1980s playing Jazz, Blues and Hop or Swing. Herman and his band, 'the Herd', issued the song "Woodchopper's Ball", his biggest hit (5 millilion copies sold) in 1939 and contiunued to tour and issue records. Among the most famous was 'Ebony Concerto' played at Carnegie Hall. In 1987 he won the Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award. Very Good.
