Woody Herman (1913-1987) was a band leader from the late 1930s and 1940s thru the 1980s playing Jazz, Blues and Hop or Swing. Herman and his band, 'the Herd', issued the song "Woodchopper's Ball", his biggest hit (5 millilion copies sold) in 1939 and contiunued to tour and issue records. Among the most famous was 'Ebony Concerto' played at Carnegie Hall. In 1987 he won the Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award. Very Good.
