Jenkins'. Reprinting of Lord Chesterfields' famous letters to his son Philip Stanhope covering the period 1739-1765. This collection of letters, first published in 1774, became the 'manual of practical morality' and etiquette for fashoning the manners of ambitious youths during the latter part of the eigthteenth century in England. At this later date the volume has become an insightful view into the code of conduct and the habits of thought of a great nobleman during the regin of George II. The letters are a pleasure to read.
