Sacramento, California, 1975. Group of two items relating to the 25th season of the Music Circus. Season Program for 1975: [16] pages; illustrations; stiff paper wrapper in silver, black and blue printing and design on the cover. Included within the program is a listing of all the shows and leading actors over the 25 years. Season Poster: Cardstock (13 3/4 x 22 inches) in black and blue ink listing the shows and dates of the 1975 season. Signed by the producers Russell Lewis and Howard Young on the poster in ink, and also a signature by Kathleen Freeman. Small bumped corner on the lower right. Both in fine clean condition. Fine.

Meadville, PA, Keystone View Company. # 21848 (309). Stereograph on gray board (7 x 3 1/2 inch) with commentary on the backside about the city of Sao Paulo, its modern features, and grand structures ca.1915. It rests on the 2,500 foot plateau 28 miles from its port Santos allowing the city get away from the oppresive heat and humidity of the coast. Stunning brick structure known as the Municipal Theater is shown in the center of the photo with planted grounds and a wide boulevard below and in front of it. Quite nice image. Fine.

. Publictiy photograph (5 x 6 1/4 on a 8 x 10 inch sheet) b/w, circa 1940s. This publicity photo shows Jim and Marian Jordan standing on the back of a railroad train called the 'Honeymoon Express'. "Fibber McGee and Molly" was a long running and much loved radio program that was on the air from 1935 to 1952. The character of Fibber McGee was played by Jim Jordan (1896-1988) and the part of Molly McGee was played by his wife Marian Jordan (1898-1961). They were married in 1918. With the popularity of the show so great the couple also made four movies in the 1930s & 1940s. Fine.

  Publicity Photograph "Milton Sills"
. Publicity photo (5 x 7 inch) of Sills sitting, b/w, during the 1920s with printed signature. Milton Sills (1882-1930) was a stage and film actor from Chicago. From a wealthy family he first became a professor at the University of Chicago and then in 1905 became a stage actor. Starred in a dozen plays on Broadway between 1908 and 1912. In 1914 he starred in "The Pit" an instant hit and began acting full time in silent films as a freelance actor starring opposite many of the leading actresses of the time including Gloria Swanson. His most famous and sucessful movie was "The Sea Hawk" (1924). Along with 36 other leading actors of Hollywood he helped found The Academy of Movie Pictures Arts and Sciences in 1927. Sills last silent film was THE SEA WOLF (1930). Tho he made several early talking pictures his career was cut short by a heart attack playing tennis. Sills has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fine.

Known as 'Lonesome George', George Gobel (1919-1991) had a TV comedy show in 1954-1960 and guest appeared on many shows, including the most famous being the Johnny Carson Show with Dean Martin and Bob Hope when Dean Martin used his drink as an ash tray. He had a laidback gentle humor. Fine.

. circa.1930. Publicity photo (5 x 7 inches) of he upper body looking up. Dorotony Mackaill (1903-1990) was a british actress who ran away from home to be on the stage in London. Eventurally moving to New York and joining the Ziegfield Follies, and then on to Hollywood in the 1920s. She was a WAMPAS Baby Strar in 1924. Her most famous movie was THE MAN WHO CAME BACK with George O'Brien. Mackaill's career survived the change to talkies, but retired in 1937, later did some TV work. Fine.

  Publicity Photograph "Jackie Coogan"
. circa 1925. Publicity photo (5 x 7 inch) of his upper body with hands folded and printed signature across the bottom. Aged 10-12 in the photo, Jackie Coogan (1914-1984) was the most famous child actor in the silent films making over four million dollars in such films as THE KID (1921) and OLIVER TWIST (1922) and from the extensive advertising during the 1920s. He was famous for his pageboy haircut, oversize overalls and cap. His mother and step-father went through his money and Jackie had to sue them, only getting $126,000. This led to the famous California Child Actors Bill which forced the studios to set aside 15% of the child actors income. During hard times Charlie Chaplan helped him out with money. In WWII Jackie flew glidders in Burma. Later in life he became famous for his role of Uncle Fester in the TV show THE ADAMS FAMILY and various guest roles. He retired in the 1970s. Fine.

In 1920 he appeared on the stage with John Barrymore in RICHARD III. Went on to leading roles in silent films and later as a character actor in talking films. ON the side he ran a large hobby shop in southern California that specialized in radio controled planes. During WWII his company won an army contract for the OQ-2 Radioplane of which there were 15,000 made. After the war he sold the company to Northrop. His last role was in 1967 on BATMAN. Fine.

(One of a few copies bound this way, according to Winter's great greadson, Robert Young, Jr.). The testimonal was given for Winter in honor of his 80th birthday. The printed program consists of a portrait of Winter, the performers and performances, a letter of tribute and many pages of fascimilies of signatures (actors, actresses, theatrical producers, managers, authors, etc.) poems by Edwin Markham and James Whitcomb Riley, a list of books by Winter, etc. Light foxing on title page. 8 1/2 x 12 inches.
