London, J. M Dent & Co. Hard Cover, ~. 1891 - 5. Frontispiece to each volume. 10 volumes in original beige cloth, lettered and decorated in beige and black; top edges gilt, other edges untrimmed. Some corners bumped, spines a little darkened, bookplate of S. H. Perry in most volumes, good. Volume 2 of Melincourt is the second impression of 1893; Volume 2 of Gryll Grange is dated 1895: the other 8 volumes are from the first issue of this edition in 1891. Garnett contributes a lengthy general introduction to Headlong Hall, and shorter introductions to the other works. The fragment of Peacock's unfinished tale Calidore was here published for the first time. A ten volume set which will require additional postage.

London. Hard Cover, |. Uniform binding in black cloth on bevelled boards: butterfly motif in gilt on front boards; dark green endpapers. Light scuffing on corners. On Part of the Property the gilt lettering is dulled on the spine: all other volumes have a signature (dated 1901) and are crisp and bright. All undated early reprints, aprt from A matter of Skill which is the first edition and duly dated 1896. Whitby's first seven books (she produced another seven or eight up to 1911). "Intelligent, very mildly feminist fiction" (Edwardian Fiction). A heavy set which will require substantial additional postage.
