Unique photographs are reminiscent of locomotives, trains, railway stations kilns and routes that have long since been shut down. It is of course primarily an illustrated book with mostly full-page photos in landscape format. In addition, Helmut Säuberlich describes how his pictures came about, which cameras and processes he used and how difficult it was to get hold of material in the post-war period. Almost all locomotives and railcars from the period 1945-1970 appear in the picture section.
