Contemporary calf, with considerable wear and some loss at joints, corners very worn; five spine compartments decorated with gold-tooled ornaments, spine title label missing; chipped at head and foot of spine; sprinkled, red-edged leaves; free front endleaf detached. Text leaves in very good condition. Printed book-label of William Gurden Preene (with manuscript date 1810) replacing a removed book-plate. Preene (1794-1853), a Cambridge graduate, later practised as a physician at Maidstone in Kent. Very occasional pencil marginalia; two price codes in ink on rear pastedown. ESTC T170482.
