| Oakland a's Spring Training Program & Scorecard, Spring 1971 1971. Wraps, Small Quarto -- from 9¾" to 12" tall. program for a spring training game in Mesa, Arizona, between the Oakland A's and the Chicago Cubs; contains stats for the Oakland players only, as well as a little civic boosterism for the community of Mesa, and a lot of advertising for various local businesses (my favourite of which is the straightforwardly named Desert Liquor (of Apache Junction); among the A's players listed are Reggie Jackson, Joe Rudi, Vida Blue, Rollie Fingers, Gene Tenace, the ebullient Bert Campaneris (known, on occasion, in a fit of pique to hurl a bat at a pitcher), and Jim "Catfish" Hunter; among the Cubbies, Ernie Banks, Larry Gura, Milt Pappas, Don Kessinger, Ron Santo, Joe Pepitone, and Ferguson Jenkins; coincidentally, the Cubs held their spring training camp in Mesa for 14 years before the Oakland A's moved in; cover photograph of an Arizona desert scene (presumably the distance Reggie Jackson once hit a ball out of Rendezvous Park, although no official mention is made of it); scorecard filled in in pencil, then erased (duh!), tiny abrasion to front cover, moderate general wear;.
