Text in English and Japanese. Published only in Japan as a very limited edition, this is a massive work on the noted futurist/designer Syd Mead. "Kronolog" is comprised of three separate components housed in a pictorial slipcase. The first, "Kronovecta: Concept Designs of Syd Mead" is a three hundred and twenty-eight page volume in wrappers that focuses on Mead's conceptual process, with over seven hundred sketches, memos and renderings. The second, "Kronovid: The Technique of Syd Mead" is a printed clamshell box containing a 58 minute VHS video-cassette that contains a documentary/interview with the author in English that is also subtitled in Japanese. The final volume, "Kronoteko: Art of Syd Mead" is one hundred and forty-four pages, hardbound in boards, and is dedicated to one hundred and forty full color illustrations of completed works. Syd Mead has been responsible for the look of "Blade Runner", "2010", "Star Trek - The Motion Picture", as well as numerous automotive designs, products for US Steel, etc., and "Kronolog" is truly his magnum opus. A pristine example of the exceptionally scarce VHS (rather than Laser disc) edition of which only a handful were produced for the author's own use, BOLDLY SIGNED AND DATED by Syd Mead in black ink on the title page of "Kronoteko", in the publisher's printed slipcase with obi, as issued.
