Edita / Global Architecture., First Edition. Cloth in Dust Jackets, Large Square 4to, each np, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. Text in English and Japanese. This is the entire twelve volume set of Bruce Brooks Pfeiffer's monumental authoritative study detailing the complete works of Frank Lloyd Wright. Issued in cooperation with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation by Japan's A.D.A. Edita / Global Architecture between 1984 and 1988, each volume is several hundred pages in length and lavishly illustrated - primarily with spectacular photographs by GA's Yukio Futagawa. "Volumes 1-8 are monographs which chronologically survey the development of Wright's architectural style. Illustrations consist of photographs and drawings of completed buildings and relevant projects. Volumes 9-11 present selected preliminary studies that were executed in the course of developing Wright's significant projects, most of which are published for the first time. Volume 12 consists of two hundred selected renderings that are often considered works of art in themselves". The twelve volumes are as follows: 1. Frank Lloyd Wright Monograph 1887-1901, 2. Monograph 1902-1906, 3. Monograph 1907-1913, 4. Monograph 1914-1923, 5. Monograph 1924-1936, 6. Monograph 1937-1941, 7. Monograph 1942-1950, 8. Monograph 1951-1959, 9. A for the most part handsome complete set of this massive undertaking still in the publisher's printed cardboard shipping cartons which show a bit of overall wear, handling, and sunning. As for the books themselves, volumes 1 and 2 are both Fine in Fine jackets. Volumes 3 and 4 are lightly bumped at the crown of the spine with a slight wrinkle to each jacket. Volumes 5-12 are somewhat more problematic as they were slightly damaged in transit, with each showing a bump or dent through either the crown of the spine or upper foredge corner that creases the textblock and wrinkles the jacket. These have been priced accordingly.
