The year of Only One Year began on December 19 1966, as Svetlana Alliluyeva, Stalin's daughter, left Russia for India, on a one month's visa, in the custody of an employee of the soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs, carrying the urn that held her husband's ashes. It ended on December 19, 1967, in Princeton, New Jersey, as she and two American friends joined in a toast to her new life on freedom. Svetlana Alliluyeva explains the decision to break completely with the ideology of Communism, to turn her back on her country, her children, her friends and face the unknown world. 415 pages. He was imprisoned for two years in 1814 for fraudulent stock-jobbing transactions. Two years after his release he offered his services to the new Chili Republic and was appointed commander-in-chief of the naval forces. Pastedown page has tear down middle and some discolouration.
