  19 original drawings by American illustrator Sonia Roetter, ca. 1940s.
11 1/2 x 10 inches and smaller. Most are carefully finished ink drawings, a few pencil sketches. Two are signed by her. Subjects include a hot dog and peanut vendor, people sitting on park bench, couple and baby picnicing, children's shadow show, medieval serving girl handing a ham to a standing pig, hymn singers, Salvation Army singers (2), monk sleeping after wine and fish dinner, girls playing basketball, etc. Roetter worked in Chicago and illustrated Mother Goose, Japanese and Chinese fairy tales and other books for Peter Pauper Press in the 1940s. Also included is a photograph of some other of her drawings and piece of a letterhead drawn for Cornell-in-China, Inc.
