Includes accounts of the Black Flag rebellion in Kimberley, a Griqua uprising, & Colonel Rowlands campaign against Sekhukhune, a full account of the 9th Frontier War and the battle of Centane. The disastrous encounter at Isandlwana is interpreted from the point of view of individual soldiers whose progress has been carefully traced until their confrontation with the Zulu army.

ISBN: 9781853670411 This is the official history of the Anglo-Zulu Wars, compiled by the Intelligence Branch of the then war Office for publication immediately after the campaign. It was and has remained the definitive account from the British standpoint and it has formed the basis of all subsequent serious works on the campaign. Covers, of course, the various battles including Isandhlwana and Rorke's Drift, the death of the Prince Imperial (with map), and the pursuit and capture of Cetshwayo. The preferred modern edition. Interesting to note the recorded cost of the war at £5,230,323.
