Johnson...; and Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme..., 1809. 2 volumes. 12mo, 190 x 108, pp. Volume 1: [viii], 409 [410 blank,, 411 - 419 index, 420 adverts], including half-title, engraved coloured frontispiece, 12 engraved plates at end of text (3 partially coloured; Volume 2: 12mo, pp. [iii] iv - vii [viii blank], 266, uncut, neatly rebound in boards; lower margin of title-page slightly defective, clean tear in T3 of volume from fore-edge to inner margin, but a very good set. Information about James White is not exactly voluminous. He died in 1825 and was Veterinary Surgeon to His Majesty's First, or Royal Dragoons. This ninth edition of the first volume is uncommon, with OCLC locating copies in BL and National Library of Wales in the UK, Guelph in Canada, and Massey University in New Zealand.
