No jacket. 125 pp. With a few photo plates throughout. All present as called for. A recounting of the author's travels to various missions and missionaries in Japan, China, India and Burma, detailing the lives, customs and culture of the people of those countries. Written from the perspective of a missionary and influenced by Biblical teachings. Of note is a lengthy inscription on the front free endpaper by the author's son, apparently written on her passing, in which he states how lucky he is and quotes a note written by Helen Keller to him, in which she says, "She is not dead, she is just away." The son of Bainbridge asserts in his inscription that Helen Keller and Lucy Bainbridge were friends. (An online copy of a 1933 newspaper article also mentions this.) In VERY GOOD condition. Light fading, rubbing and edgewear to the covers. Small bump across the top of the book. Interior clean and solid with light toning to the paper. Very Good/No Jacket.

Written just after World War I, this travelogue provides a history of the villages and cities along the Seine in France, asserting that the charm of this river was overlooked until it was found navigable by large boats in World War I. Dodd discusses French history as it relates to the Seine, as well as documenting Havre, Rouen, Caudebec, Trouville and Deauville, among other towns. Also detailed are the various World War I battlefields in and around Amiens, providing an account of the battle at Amiens. GOOD condition. Light fading to the covers, heavier along the spine, with an area of browning near the foot. Light soiling, rubbing and edgewear. A travel memoir by Drew (a former state commissioner of Maine) recounting his trip to London by boat and describing his impressions of Montreal and Quebec in general, and in great detail, life and culture in London, including various parks, the churches, his impressions of the Great Exhibition and other notable sights. In POOR/FAIR condition. MISSING lower half of the cloth backstrip. General moderate fading to the covers, with a few spots of heavier fading. A few small ink drops present. Some soiling and minor to moderate scuffing. Heavy edgewear with the cloth scuffed through along the extremities, heavy bumping to the corners with loss of cloth and minor loss of backstrip at the head of the spine. Covers weak at the interior hinges but still intact. Text block solid with heavy darkening to the endpapers, minor to moderate foxing throughout and some scattered soiling. A few pages creased at the corners. Overall moderate to heavy wear in POOR/FAIR condition. Poor/No Jacket.

One card acknowledges the remittance for the items, with the name Vincenzo Rey printed on it in ornate script, along with an address of 250 Boylston Street in Boston, MA. GOOD to VERY GOOD condition. Originally issued as a 52 week calendar. This is LACKING the calendar portion and consists ONLY of black and white photos. These chronicle the work of Sir Wilfred Grenfell in Labrador Canada, depicting the ice, harbors, ships, people and settlements of the area. Grenfell led medical missionary expeditions to Newfoundland and Labrador in an effort to help the fishermen and fishing settlements, eventually expanding his work to include the native population, and establishing orphanages, schools, etc. GOOD+ condition. Minor creasing and darkening to the covers, with minor soiling. Remains of a sticker on the rear cover. Interior clean and solid with minor toning to the paper. Some rusting to the staples. First photo with minor scuffs. Good .

Half leather with marbled boards, four raised bands on the spine as well as gilt titling, ruling and minor ornamentation. Written as an historical travelogue, this volume offers a rather Eurocentric view of Africa ranging from ancient discoveries, to discussions of life in Tripoli, Cyrene, Tunis, Bizerta, Tabarca, Algiers, Morocco, the bombardment pf Algiers by the British fleet, treatment of Christian slaves, etc. In VERY GOOD condition. Some scuffing and fading to the boards. Very minor soiling. Extremities scuffed with corners rounded. Spine with light rubbing to the head and foot. Small attractive bookplate of Thomas Henry Graham in the front cover. Binding tight. Text is clean with minor darkening to the pages, a very faint hint of foxing to a few pages, some ghosting of the map border onto the title page as well as from the bookplate onto the facing ffep. Small tear at lower fold line of the map. Attractive copy of this work in VERY GOOD condition. VOLUME 2 AS FOLLOWS: With six illustrations (black and white) as called for. 348 numbered pages.
