Account of the England Cricket team tour of Australia in 1911-12, by the former captain who had been due to lead his Enland team but who unfortunately fell ill and was unable to play. Johnny Douglas took over the captaincy for all five Test matches. Despite losing the first Test at Sydney, a side which included Jack Hobbs, Frank Woolley, Sydney Barnes and Wilfred Rhodes hit back to win the remaining four Tests. They thus regained The Ashes. 22.5cms x 15cms x 5cms. Pp.xiv/284, team photo frontispiece + 47 further pages of black & white photos, a few very light spots, faint pencil notation to front free endpaper, endpapers toned. Red cloth, gilt title to front and spine, very slight sunning to spine, bumps to corner tips. VG.
