Clarke, Thomas E. (Compiler)
The American Pocket Library of Useful Knowledge
Phildelphia, Griffith & Simon, 1841. 2nd Edition. Hardcover. 63pp. Brown publisher's cloth, gilt lettering. Light wear to cover, 1/4 inch chip at head of spine, dampstaining and foxing appearing most heavily to first and last few pages, binding is tight light pencil notations on endpapers. A previous owner drew a detailed, and comical pencil drawing of an orator standing at a lectern giving a speech. The type in this book is very small, and the compiler explains that "larger type would greatly increase the size and price" of the book! Information in the book includes agriculture health, temperance, U.S. Constitution, phrenology, religion, cookery and more. Fair/No Jacket.
