Tiller (September 18, 1929 – February 7, 2022) was a distinguished American physicist and professor emeritus at Stanford University's Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Born in Toronto, Canada, he earned his B. A. Sc, M. A. Sc, and Ph. D. Degrees in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto. Tiller initially worked as an advisory physicist at Westinghouse Research Laboratories before joining Stanford University in 1964, where he served as department chair from 1966 to 1971. Renowned for his theoretical and experimental research into the physics of solidification, Tiller made significant contributions to understanding crystallization processes in materials such as water, metals, semiconductors, oxides, and polymers. His work explored the relationships between crystallization, material structures, and their physical properties, leading to advancements in processes like ingot casting and single crystal growth critical to the semiconductor industry. Beyond conventional science, Tiller pioneered the field of psychoenergetics, investigating the influence of human consciousness on physical reality. He authored several books on this subject, including Science and Human Transformation: Subtle Energies, Intentionality, and Consciousness and Psychoenergetic Science: A Second Copernican-Scale Revolution. His research suggested that human intention could significantly affect chemical and biological systems, proposing a new understanding of the interplay between consciousness and the physical world. Tiller's innovative work earned him recognition as a fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science. He was also a founding director of both the Academy of Parapsychology and Medicine and the Institute of Noetic Sciences, reflecting his commitment to exploring the frontiers of human potential and consciousness. Throughout his career, Tiller published over 250 scientific papers and several books, leaving a lasting impact on both materials science and the study of consciousness. His legacy continues to inspire new explorations into the connections between mind and matter.. Very Good with no dust jacket .
