The United States Ship Hornet: First War Cruise 1943-1945
S. l. s. n. Uniform edition, n. d. ("reprinted from the original that was lithographed on board the U.S.S. Hornet"); 10 1/4 x 8; pp. [48]; olive-green wraps, printed in black and decorated with a small vignette; illustrated with numerous photographs and a map; a tiny nick to head of spine, else in fine condition. A pictorial tribute, the book commemorated the history of the Navy's U.S.S. Hornet and the men and women serving on it. During WWII, she would launch the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo and would participate in the Battle of Midway and the Buin-Faisi-Tonolai raid. She would be damaged during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands and ultimately - torpedoed and sunk by Japanese destroyers - becoming the last US fleet carrier ever sunk by enemy fire. Near fine .

Loose leaves affixed to a card stock binder with a metal clip; 8 x 10 1/2; pp. [38], typed text to recto only; binder with a few rubbed spots, else minor wear; in very good condition. USS General William Mitchell (AP-114) was a US Navy troopship, serving in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. At the time the current documents were issued, at the tail end of the Korean War and on the eve of the Vietnam War, the ship made numerous runs between several West Coast ports and Japan and Korea, transporting men and material and supporting the United Nations forces. The lists included descriptions and inventory of products and meals, recipes, menus for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and so on. Very good .
