Large 8vo, 213 x 125 mms., pp. [ii], 110, contemporary quarter calf, marbled boards (slightly worn) gilt rules on spine, When the naval officer and politician Sir John Orde (1751 - 1824) died in 1824, the obituary in the Gentleman's Magazine alluded to this work, asserting that Earl St. Vincent had prevented a promotion and apparently demand "complete satisfaction." He had circulated the contents of this work among his friends, and the GM asserts that it "appears to have been written with temper and moderation, and is well worthy of perusal, especially by professional men."
