¶ By far the best collection of firsthand Union accounts, the MOLLUS volumes were written by men who were active participants in the Civil War. The MOLLUS volumes were originally published in 1887-1915 This reprint has new introductions, biographical sketches of the contributors by Bill Mavel, pictures of the contributors and a thorough every name cumulative index. These first-hand accounts of life in camp, battle and prison are, in effect, the Union counterpart of the Confederate Veteran. However, unlike the Veteran, these volumes are entirely war content and do not feature advertisements, editorials, etc. Many of the volumes are scarce, some are unique and some exist only in typescript. This is the first time a complete set of MOLLUS has been assembled.
