Maroon full calf, edges rubbed and bumped. Flat spine with dulled gilt title ("Little Lexicon"), and gilt decoration. All page edges gilt (rubbed). Some central gatherings proud of the text block (but firmly attached). Inner gilt dentelles. Soiled yellow endpapers. Small binder's label to verso of the front board: "J. Ford, Bookseller, Bond St. Bath". Previous owner's details to front endpaper dated 1831. Engraved frontis of Samuel Johnson, facing title-page with engraved vignette, both toned and foxed. Followed by a printed title-page, also toned and foxed. Advertisment to both the First and Second editions to next leaf (verso numbered p.iv). Clear English text throughout on toned paper. A well preserved copy of this scarce little book. ** Full title reads: "The Little Lexicon; or, Multum in Parvo of the English Language containing upwards of two thousand words, with their definitions, more than are to be found in the usual abridgements of Dr. Johnson's Dictionary: to which is added, a table of terms and phrases, from the French, Italian, and Spanish languages.".
