Whittaker..., 1822. 8vo, pp. viii, 490 [491 - 504, contemporary half calf, black leather label, marbled boards; front joint cracked and tender, rear joint slightly rubbed, corners slightly worn. Charles Symmons (1749 - 1826) first published this work in 1806 as part of a seven-volume edition of Milton's works; the first separate publication was in 1810. This new third edition has been revised and amended. Previous editions had been criticised, "but my assailants have been of a size beneath my notice" (Preface, dated 25 February 1822).
