London: Alabaster, Passmore & Sons Ltd, 1956. 1st edition. The company was founded in 1856 by Thomas James Smith of Kingston upon Hull who went into business as a dispensing chemist. A few months before his death in 1896, Smith was joined by his nephew, Horatio Nelson Smith, and the business became known as T. J. Smith and Nephew. 25cms x 18.5cms. Pp.46, black & white photo portrait frontispiece + 10 further photo plates, chart of associated companies and 4 colour plates illustrating their brands to end, illustrated endpapers, occasional light spotting - mainly affecting closed page edges. Grey paper covered boards, wear to spine and board edges. Good.
