Some foxing to plates, rebound in modern gilt rule edged half calf with cloth boards, minor marking and wear, gilt ruling and gilt lettered label to lightly faded spine.
¶ Our copy lacking (as usual) the detached large map of Silurian Region with small map of England inset, but with ‘Figures of the Silurian Fossils to Illustrate Murchison’s ‘Siluria’ 5th Edition with a map John Murray 1872’ in frayed and marked gilt lettered cloth. With 41 litho. plates and Folding colour ‘Geological Map of the Silurian Rocks 49 x 43cm. repaired to verso. Sir Roderick Impey Murchison, Baronet (1792–1871), geologist and geographer. ODNB ‘...
