With an engraved titlepage and three more engravings - each introducing a new chapter - with a memento mori theme, depicting three stages of life with a skeleton, ax and hourglass. l In Latin, originally published in 1628. Jeremias Drexel S.J. (also known as Hieremias Drexelius or Drechsel) (August 15, 1581 - 19 April 1638) was a Jesuit writer of devotional literature and a professor of the humanities and rhetoric. He served for 23 years as court preacher in Munich.

This handbook for learning Latin was widely celebrated and reprinted until the 19th century. Handwritten notes on flyleaves (names: Stappaerts, and a calculation in the back), printed in two columns, Latin and Dutch.
