PSALMS. HYMNS.
Select Psalms and Hymns For the Use of the Parish-Church and Chapels Belonging to the Parish of St. James Westminster. With proper Tunes in three parts.
London, Printed & Sold by the Proprietor S. Hewitt at his Ink Warehouse..., [1750.] 12mo, pp. [24 of engrave title-page and leaves of music with scale on last page], 65 [66 blank, 67 - 69 adverts for B. Creake imprints, 70 blank], contemporary calf, worn, rubbed, and dried, with covers virtually, contemporary autograph of "Eliz. Partridge" on engraved title-page. The engraved title-page does not have Creake's name in the imprint, but the letterpress title-page which follows the last leaf of music adds his name to the imprint; the date derives from one of the adverts for his books, which suggests a printing date around 1750, possibly slightly later. Numerous editions of this popular hymn book with neatly engraved music for the choir appeared from the 1690s onwards. This particular edition of these psalms and hymns appears to be uncommon: ESTC T123156 lists copies only at L and C.
