Pages uncut. l Johannes van den Bosch (1780 - 1844) was a Dutch general, governor-general of the Dutch East Indies, commander of the Dutch East Indies army, Minister of Colonies and Minister of State. This book is about his de Maatschappij van Weldadigheid, that was founded by Van den Bosch who wanted to help the poor families. He bought desolate land in Drenthe so that the poor could develop it. The Westerbeek House on the Westerbeeksloot estate in what is now Frederiksoord became the administrative center of the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid.
