Black buckram boards with blind stamp library name to front board: "Borough Of Holborn Public Library". Gilt titles to spine (incorrectly dated 1828). Library label to verso of the front board: "Metropolitan Borough Of Holborn Reference Library". Engraved frontis of Cato's Speech (in English and Shorthand), lightly foxed and soiled. Engraved title-page , also lightly foxed and soiled: "Engraved on steel by H. Midlane, 23 Red Cross Sqr. City, London". Also, with black ink-stamp: "Withdrawn". Advertisement states this is the 13th edition (p.v.). Preface is dated "Dec. 1831" (p.xi.) . "List of authors on stenography" (p.14) . Clear English text on toned and soiled paper throughout. Curiosly there is also a folded leaf of hand-written notes (in a contemporary hand) bound in at the end.
