Illustrated with 21 mostly folding or double-page plates, a.o. two plans of the city and a large profile view. The book has been skillfully rebacked with parchment underneath the original parchment. In this manner, the corners have also been recovered. With a heraldic crest on the inside of the front cover: "ab altissimo sunt mea vestimenta plus quam regia". This is the family crest of the Belgian family Lely van Oudewater (van der).

Folio, copy on large paper, full leather binding, some rubbing to edges of binding, damage to top of spine, gilt lettering and ornaments on spine, rubbed, gilt faded, hinges suffering on the exterior, binding internally solid. Good but incomplete copy. [24]+804+[14] pag. Illustrated with engraved frontispiece, 17 mostly folding or double-page plates, including one large fold out plan of the city in 1672. Lacks 4 plates: large profile view, fold out map 1560, oude kerk and nieuwe kerk. Text is complete. Interesting detail: there has been an error in the pagenumbers and the signature numbers. After signature Eeee, three signatures Ffff follow: Ffff, Ffff
¶ Ffff**, and alle pages in these three signatures have pagenumber 564. After this weird set of signatures Gggg follows and the correct pagenumbering is picked up. The catchwords (custode) help us to determine that the text is complete. A similar issue occurs in signature Z.

(Cornelis Claesz), (no place), (1609). Two heets of paper pasted together. Very good condition and very nicely hand coloured. 293x371 mm. Map by I.P. Saenredam, based on the original by Ortelius. The plate was used many times for several publications, like Guicciardini's description of The Netherlands and loose prints like this one. In 1612 Bleau took the plate over and eventually broke the top left corner (where a crack is visible in this copy). Nontheless the plate remained to be used until 1648.
