Roberts, Pudgy et al.
Pudgy Roberts Presents the Great Female Mimics. January 1973. Vol. 1 No. 1
New York, Mark Lithographers, 1973. Wraps. Illustrated wraps. 48 pp. Black and white photos throughout. An iteration of the magazine, Female Mimics, that began publishing in 1963. As "The History and Significance of FEMALE MIMICS Magazine 1963 1979" by Bob Davis and Carol Kleinmaier notes, this issue, while similar in name, appears to have been completely independent of the original. Pudgy Roberts had edited Female Mimics, and this issue marks the first, and only, time she published the magazine. The original magazine itself was editorially geared toward a heterosexual audience, with reference to the transgender few and far between. Once Pudgy Roberts took over as editor, it was the first time a member of the transgender community helmed the magazine. That said, this issue is devoted to female impersonators such as Gene Chandler and Ricky Renee. It does also contain an article on Pudgy Roberts. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and edgewear. Very Good .
