Parsons & Co. 1850. 1850. - Small octavo [approximately 6 inches high by 4 inches wide], bluish gray cloth titled in gilt with profuse decorations in gilt on the spine & with a vignette stamped in gilt on the front cover & decorative frames in blind on both covers. The binding is rubbed, bumped & faded. The head & tail of the spine are chipped with a tear to the head. viii & pages [9]-120. 1 full-page illustration & 6 plates, including a frontispiece, in black & white. There is scattered foxing & staining. Good.

A dog story for children, this book was originally published in 1798. Good .

New York: Frederick A. Stokes Compay, 1891. 1891. - 12mo, 6-1/2 inches high by 4-3/4 inches wide. Light brown cloth backed with a darker brown backstrip & spine, titled in silver on the spine with a vertical silver decorated roulette on the front and rear covers. Titled with a vignette of a dog in gilt on the front cover. The covers are rubbed and soiled with some speckling along the front edge of the front cover. [viii] & 65 pages, with a publisher's device decorating the title page. The rear hinge is starting. The pages have occasional soiling. Very good.

First edition.

Taylor dedicates his book "To the Westminster Kennel Club of 1877, the women who were exhibitors at its first Bench Show, Charles Lincoln, the Rev. J. Cumming Macdona, William Lort, Esq. F.R.G.S. and to all whose efforts to improve and elevate the dog have been crowned with such eminent success.."
