No Place, Raphael Tuck and Sons, Publisher, 1894. Unbound. No place, presumed London or New York: 1894. Die cut easel back paper doll with die cut dresses and hats. All in color. The doll measures about 10 inches from head to toe. All appear to be from Artistic Series I, with copyright dates of 1894. The firm Raphael Tuck began in 1866, manufacturing a variety of paper items, and issued their first paper doll in 1893, being a baby with a nursing bottle. This doll is a girl, and features dresses labeled artistic Series Ic and Ie, dresses and hats I A, I B, I D, I F. All in GOOD to VERY GOOD condition. The doll is complete, although is missing the easel tab on the reverse. The fronts of all items are still colorful and complete, with a few bearing a few small spots of staining. Some of the dresses are missing the tabs on the reverse, or bear some tape staining, with two bearing a tack hole sized puncture at the neck edge. Good .

A single issue of this magazine for a juvenile audience, featuring 'The Young Philosopher,' by W.T. Adams, discussing trains, railroads and their design and use. Adams is perhaps better known by his pen name Oliver Optic. Also present is the piece 'About A Cat,' by Gail Hamilton (pen name of Mary Abigail Dodge) a writer known for her support of equal opportunities for women. With pieces on the planets, etc. GOOD condition. Covers torn along the lower hinges, about 3 inches in length, with a1 by 2 inch triangular piece missing from the lower rear cover. Covers also split about 4 inches down along the upper hinge. Minor scattered staining to the front cover, with moderate staining to the rear. Minor soiling and browning. Some curling along the extremities. Previous owner's signature in pencil at the upper front cover. Text solid, with minor scattered staining. Good .

An adventure magazine for boys, featuring detective stories, adventure stories, etc. This issue features a story about Falcon Swift, the sporting detective, as well as one featuring Miffy, the Motor Marvel and Caleb Hench, the Hunchback Mystery Man. This features some rather poor characterizations of Chinese men. Also included is a story titled, The World of a Witch Doctor featuring the Zulu tribe and a science fiction story set on another planet, titled "The Land of Marvels," and written by Everard Darrell. In FAIR/GOOD condition. Heavy browning to the paper, with minor chipping and creasing along the corners. Several small spots of dampstaining to the front wrap, with moderate to heavy soiling along the spine. Interior solid with a small semicircular dampstain at the lower fore edge. Fair .

It appears this iteration lasted only a year, with no subsequent publications. GOOD condition. Moderate scuffing, some chipping and tearing along the extremities, with minor creasing. Wrappers split along the spine, tenuously holding together. Minor toning, soiling and staining to the covers and interior. Several of the first several pages with 1 inch tears to their fore edge margins. Good .

This twelve page articles contains illustrations, as well as two photos of various flying machines, including hot air balloons or air ships, flying wings and two photos of an airplane type machine built by Hiram Maxim. This article discusses the history and evolution of man made aviation, from balloons to motorized machines, featuring conjecture on the future as well as discussion of the then current state of aviation.
