"Matthew Page Andrews (1879-1947) was born in Shepherdstown, being the nephew of the famous southern writer, Thomas Nelson Page. He was the author of Women in the South in War Time, The Tercentenary History of Maryland, Virginia, The Old Dominion, A History of the United States and The American's Creed and Its Meaning." (from West Virginia University). The author writes this history from the perspective of a staunch Confederate, painting the history of the war in colorful terms. He talks about the privations of the women and how they worked around the lack of provision. He includes personal testimonies and correspondence from ladies, and much more.. Very Good .
