General Sir Charles James Napier GCB (1782 - 1853) was a British general and Commander-in-Chief in India. The city of Napier, New Zealand, is named after him. He is famous for conquering Sindh province now in present-day Pakistan. CONDITION Historical society exlibris copy has society stamp to edge and ffep with withdrawn stamped over, plus gift inscription dated 1891. Red cloth bds, spine is faded and has label residue, bottom front cnr lightly bumped, engraved frontis portrait with clean tissue guard, pp vi 216. Copy is Fine internally. Bright and crisp. Very Good/No Jacket.
