LXXXI 1781 2 volumes. 12mo, 120 x 68 mms., pp. [[i], 245 [246 - 247 contents, 24 8 blank]; [ii], 258 [259 contents, 260 blank], attractively bound in slightly later in straight-grain green morocco, gilt borders on covers, spines richly gilt in compartments, with title and volume numbers stamped in gilt, all edges gilt; spines a bit faded, but a very good set, inscribed on the verso of the front free end-paper of volume 1, "W. J. Orsmsby-Gore/ a present from/ Selina Gore." Antoine/ Anthony Hamilton (1646-1720) was an Irish nobleman and author who wrote in French, and this biography of Philibert, Count de Gramont (1621–1707), his brother-in-law, is probably his best-known book.
