He began his martial arts journey in 1964, training in Renbukai Karate under Gordan Kennedy. In 1968, he traveled to Japan, becoming the first non-Japanese to study Renbukai Karate extensively, earning a 4th-degree black belt under Masayuki Koide. Throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, Marchini established himself as a formidable tournament competitor, securing titles such as the 1968 North American Tournament of Champions and the 1971 National Black Belt Championships. He was ranked among the top karate fighters in the United States during this period. Transitioning to cinema, Marchini starred in several martial arts films, including Murder in the Orient (1974) , Death Machines (1976) , and Omega Cop (1990). He also co-authored martial arts instructional books, notably collaborating with Leo Fong on titles like Power Training in Kung-Fu and Karate (1974). Leo Fong (November 23, 1928 – February 18, 2022) was a Chinese-American martial artist, actor, boxer, and Methodist minister. Born in the Xinhui district of Jiangmen, Guangdong, China, he immigrated to the United States at age five, settling in Arkansas. Fong began boxing at 15, later earning a bachelor's degree in physical education from Hendrix College and a master's in theology from Southern Methodist University. In the 1950s, Fong delved into martial arts, studying disciplines like judo, jiu-jitsu, Choy Lay Fut, and Wing Chun. He developed his own martial arts system, Wei Kuen Do, integrating various styles. A close friend of Bruce Lee, Fong contributed to the evolution of Jeet Kune Do by introducing weight training and boxing techniques. Fong transitioned to filmmaking in the 1970s, acting in and directing over 31 films, including Murder in the Orient (1974) and Low Blow (1986). He co-authored several martial arts books with Ron Marchini, such as Power Training in Kung-Fu and Karate (1974). Fong's contributions to martial arts earned him induction into the Martial Arts History Museum's Hall of Fame in 2006. Fong passed away on February 18, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving a legacy in both martial arts and cinema.. Good+ with no dust jacket .
