In a beautiful binding which is reminiscent of both Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau. Richard Rowley was the pseudonym for Richard Valentine Williams. He wrote many poems, plays and stories. 'The City of Refuge' is one of his early poems which celebrates industry. This is the first and only edition of this work.  In a full crushed morocco binding, with gilt stamping to the boards and spine. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Former owner's inscription to the front endpaper has been excised.
