Seven Songs
Oakland, CA: Juanita Miller / Souvenir Shop At the Heights, 1935. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Sheet music. This is an oversized folder with heavy cardstock covers and a string binding with two hole punches. The sheet music is in Good condition. The covers are generally clean and bright, though there are several spots of ground-in dirt and spotting. The text pages are generally clean and bright, howeve the second page has tearing / razor tears to most of the second page - though it hasn't torn through completely. Laid-in is a promotional flier from The Woodminster Amphitheatre in Joaquin Miller Park. "When the real-estate boom of the late eighties brought new life to the west, Miller returned to California to establish a permanent base. He bought one hundred acres in the hills above Oakland and built a house and guest cottages which he called "The Hights" and began to be accepted as one of the California circle of writers which included Ina Coolbrith, Bret Harte, Charles Warren Stoddard, Prentice Mulford, Edmond Clarence Stedman, George Sterling, Jack London, Samuel L. Clemens, and others. In his later years "the poet of the Sierras" became something of a legend, but his fame was based perhaps more on Joaquin the personality, than on Joaquin the writer of memorable verse." (from Wikipedia). Good .
