It is illustrated with examples of Middleton's types, and contains a special offset section showing examples of his books and portfolios, wood engravings, glass engraving and paste-papers. There are photos illustrating his method of punch cutting and matrix making, and views of his famous Cherryburn Press. Born in Glasgow, Scotland he came to Chicago in 1908 where he studied at the School of the Art Institute.
