MITFORD, BERTRAM - The Sign of the Spider. An episode.

London, Methuen 1896. Octavo illustrated green cloth blocked in black (extremities a touch rubbed); four plates by James Grieg. The odd smudge, rather a good copy. ¶ First edition and, as expected from Mitford, an African romp filled with peril, savagery, love, mystery and horror - none more horrible than the giant man-eating spider worshipped by the Ba-gcatya tribe and none more lovely than the pale, self-sacrificing princess Lindela.
