- An Illustrated Lecture on Russia and Siberia by Capt. S. Alberti, a Russian Exile

S. l. (Elgin, Ill [?]): The Willson Press, 1904. Softcover. Small broadside, n. d. (ca 1904); 8 1/2 x 6; light brown paper printed in black; a few nicks to edges with small loss of paper; faint intersecting crease lines; good to very good condition. The broadside advertised a lecture on Russia and Siberia at the Elgin Opera House, under the auspices of Elgin Lodge No. 117, one in several such events around the country, by Captain S. Alberti. He was a Freemason and a former army officer, who had been condemned to exile in the Kara mines in Siberia and had managed to escape, with the help of Masonic friends, and to immigrate to the US in the late 1800s. He would become widely known as a prolific Masonic lecturer and would often travel around the country and retell stories of his former life in Russia. Ill.: 0. 2.
