Frey, Hildegard Gertrude - The Campfire Girls at School [Signed/Inscribed by Author]

New York: A. L. Burt, 1916. Hardcover. First edition; 5 x 7 1/2; pp. [4], 3-267, [1] + 4 publisher's advertisement pages; beige cloth over boards illustrated in red, green, and black; some wear and thinning of cloth along edges of spine; few small spots to back cover; hinges slightly weak (not broken-through); minor ink spot to first blank page; small scratch and a half-erased penciled-in scribble to upper margin of second blank page; bookplate of Stevie Zellerbach of the San Francisco Zellerbachs (the Zellerbach Paper Company); signed and inscribed by author to Stevie Zellerbach; overall very good- condition. Frey, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, created her 'Camp Fire Girls' series when she was between the ages of twenty-four and twenty-eight. An interesting fact about the author is that, though fairly well-established, parts of her early life remain unknown and unrecorded and it has been speculated that there could be other undiscovered stories of hers in various magazines and newspapers.
