NAPIER, ELMA; NAPIER, ELMA - Youth Is a Blunder

Jonathan Cape, 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Now in a removable archival protective mylar clear cover. U. K. First edition published by Jonathan Cape. Firmly and squarely bound in clean blue boards, spine is lettered in silver. Corners and spine ends slightly bumped. Text block is a lightly age toned, slightly foxed, with minor offsetting to the endpapers. A small area of damage to the top of the page block, where it appears that an unknown object has struck the book at some point. The book is free from inscriptions. The dust jacket is the original and not price clipped. Very chipped at the edges, grubby and age toned. Spine is sun darkened. The first volume of Napier's memoirs, dealing as the title suggests with the early part of her life, with a fascinating insight into the period before the first world war, in a style of prose reminiscent of Ford Madox Ford's, 'The Good Soldier'. A very rare find, particularly with the original dust jacket still present. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 224 pages. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket .
