London, James Nisbet, 1884. Stephens life was full and included the Hango massacre, Chinese Taku Forts 1860, Slave trade, Baltic Blockade, Chinese war of 1860. Illustrations include Lake Titicaca in Peru, Arab slave dhow, Beagle Channel, Tierra Del Fuego. Presentation paper on front endpaper is to Royal Naval Barracks Chatham by Prince Of Leiningen.
