Brown half-leather over marbled boards; matching marbled EPs. Spine with five raised bands, simple compartments, title compartment lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt. Boards with some rubbing, mostly at extremities, raised bands on spine rubbed, corners bruised. Head of spine bumped with a couple small splits, scarcely noticeable. This copy from a private library (D.A. De Benckendorff), with a small ex-libris number label pasted to top corner of front-pastedown. Small rubber stamp at head of verso-ffep. Starting at first blanco, chords remaining secure. Monochrome illus plates, monochrome frontispiece. Textblock age-toned, deeper at margins. Else internally clean; free of marginalia, underlining, or any other such blemishes. An attractive copy of this first edition. Quite scarce in the market.
