Chromolithographed title page, finished by hand; 15 pp.; 42 mounted lithographed plates by Fromann of Darmstadt of which 16 are printed in colours. Contemporary marbled boards; spine with red morocco label with gilt title. A very rare microscopical plant atlas, with a polychromatic title page, and all the plates ut one with the images on a circular field within a black-printed rectangular frame, as to mimic the view through a microscope. Skilfully rebacked with most of the old spine laid down. Edges a bit rubbed, the tiny stamp of a German library almost hidden in the lower margin of the rear free endpaper verso, and the versos of two plates. Otherwise a very good, clean copy.
