The ANSP Proceedings were the foremost zoological journal in the U.S.A., being especially strong in ornithology (here with important publications by John Cassin, vertebrate palaeontology, and molluscs. Malacological authors in this early volume include Gabb, and Isaac Lea. The hand-coloured plates shows new birds described by Cassin. Pagination is intricate. For instance, Gabb's Catalogue of the invertebrate fossils of the Cretaceous Formation of the United States, with references, has its own pagination (20 pp.). Uncut. A good, complete volume. Rare.
