Without wrappers (not issued), as published. The ANSP Proceedings were the foremost zoological journal in the U.S.A., being especially strong in ornithology (here with important publications by John Cassin), vertebrate palaeontology, Crustacea (a series by Simpson), and molluscs. Malacological authors in this early volume include Gabb, and Isaac Lea. The hand-coloured plates show new birds described by Cassin, and butterflies. Uncut. pp. 117-118 replacement pages present. Plates a bit soiled and stained (in particular the butterfly plate); tear in one leaf (pp. xix-xx), otherwise a good, complete volume. Rare.
